Commentary On Elections-Part Thirty-One

Commentary On Elections-Part Thirty-One

All must read the U.S Constitution, Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3, 2nd Sentence, 1st Phrase "The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand, but each State shall have at Least one Representative; "
There are simply too few representatives in the House of Representatives. While the U.S. Constitution did not cite a minimum figure, it did cite a maximum figure. That figure today would be 11,000.

At the time that nation's charter was written, the new nation had 3.25 million free people and 700,000 slaves. This means that the new nation had one congressional representative for 60,000 people (including slaves). This means that according to that enumeration standard, there presently would be 5,500 members in the U.S. House Of Representatives.

Obviously 5,500 elected officials would be too many members in the U.S. House Of Representatives. However 434 U.S. House members is too few to represent 330 million people. It needs to be expanded to 1100. That would establish one representative in that federal lower legislative body for every 300,000 people.
All must read the U.S Constitution, Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3, 1st Sentence. "The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct". This means the number of members in that legislative chamber has to be evaluated every ten years to determine if it remains the same or if it needs to be changed. Since the U.S. Census is updated every ten years, the expansionist needs of the U.S. House of Representatives should had been reviewed and should be assessed at that same time of update.
In conclusion since there are only 434 members in the U.S. House of Representatives, this will lead to Imperial Democracy. These members are too insulated from their constituents to properly serve them. If there are 1100 members instead, Representative Democracy would be more firmly established.
