The Death Tax is Un-American-By Harsha Sankar

Dear Citizen, June 25th, 2005

It is this onerous "death tax" that is unAmerican and anti-liberty.

Estate taxes do the following.
1.Discourages savings and investment.
2. Undermines job creation and wage growth
3. Prevents economy from achieving investment potential.
4. Inhibits wealth creation.

Economists have calculated 170,000 to 250,000 jobs are eliminated or never result because of the "Death Tax". Yet estate tax planning and wills have been a huge windfall for attorneys, accountants, and financial analysts. In the early nineties, a staggering $90 billion was spent in legal fees a year to prevent many small businesses, family farms, and other individuals from paying this extortionate tax. Yet only $15 billion a year was generated for the federal treasury.

America became a superpower on the concepts of work and risk. This nation was built on the backs of individually and family owned businesses. Large corporations have their origins in small businesses.

Making litigation, legislation, taxation, and regulations as predominant roles in society will mean the death knell of American liberties. The fabric of freedom and merit cannot withstand such burdensome pressures.

Very Truly Yours
