Race, Religion, And Politics In Israel-Palestine (Part Eight)

The New Testament was actually a departure from The Old Testament and not just an extension or evolution of it. Jesus may have been unaware he created a new religion but his ideas and his principles were in stark contrast with the clergy of his day. After all, was it not certain members of the Jewish clergy who conspired with the Romans to have Jesus killed because they believed he was a threat to their "rule"?

Jesus, by all accounts, was a reasonable man with common sense. He would not want people fighting and killing over the possession of the land he was born in. Jesus would not want people, regardless of faith, to be forcibly evacuated from their own land. Jesus also would not want millions to live in refugee camps as a result. Moreover, he certainly would not want violence in that specific region to establish exclusivity for a specific ethnic/racial/religious group. He only promised exclusivity in the afterlife.
Yet people misconstrue his core message and mission. As long as they continue to do so, a fatal global war will result. Mankind has already had The Crusades. Let mankind try the way of Jesus this time.
