House Speaker Does Not Have To Be Legislative Member-December 2021
Speaker
of the House Of Representatives does not have to be a member of that
legislative house. As long as a American citizen 25 years or older does
not hold an office of trust or profit other than that of House member,
that individual is eligible.
Former President Trump could conceivably be
chosen as House Speaker.
If chosen as such, he could ascend to the Presidency without contesting
an election at any level if the current President and Vice-President
have to vacate office.
The Speaker Of The House Representatives has the
power to propose impeachment to that legislative body. It appears that
certain House members have expressed interest in choosing Trump as House
Speaker and that at least one of them has stated that he has discussed
this option with the former President.
