Commentary On Elections-Part Sixty-One

Imperial Democratic Mode- The Electoral College is a myth. It was never mentioned in the American Constitution. No amendment ever specified it either.

The electoral college was designed to help cement the stranglehold of the two-party system. If one Presidential candidate receives all the electoral votes for a specific state just by getting its highest number of popular votes, that definitely promotes Imperial Democracy. With the system cited in the U.S. Constitution, it is possible that each elector in a state can cast ballots for different candidates.

When only one candidate received all the state's "spoils", only authoritarian candidates will have the means to obtain the presidency. To win most of a state's votes, only billionaires or well-established party candidates have any hope of triumphing in a Presidential race. Grassroots candidates for President only have a chance if the Constitutional system is implemented.
