Commentary On Elections-Part Thirteen
For the choosing of POTUS and VPOTUS to be in Representative Democratic Mode, there has to be two sets of electors. One elector per congressional district is sent to the state capitol to help select that state's choice for President and another elector per that same congressional district does the same to obtain that state's choice for Vice-President.
When only one set of electors per state decides who the state's choice for President and Vice-President, that is indeed Imperial Democratic mode considering the federal government is the supreme governmental body. When the individual states were indeed sovereign democratic republics, one set of electors for federal head executives were suitable for Representative governance. However since that changed and for legitimate reason, one set of electors will not be consistent with the ideals of divided governance. Too much centralized authority is conferred to electors if it collectively decides who both the President and Vice-President will be.In regards to the at-large electors, there should be two electors from each state who help choose the President along with the other Presidential electors who represent each congressional district. There should also be two at-large electors from each state who help choose the Vice-President along with the other Vice-Presidential electors who represent each congressional district.
Cliff Notes Version: There should be two sets of electors. The People in a congressional district should vote for an elector for POTUS and also for an elector for VPOTUS. Each set of electors should meet in the state capitol to pick the state's choice for these offices separately.
