Representative Democratic Model- Selectable Offices Part Nine (Chief Of The State Police)

Representative Democratic Model- Selectable Offices Part Nine (Chief Of The State Police)

The Vice-Governor should select six candidates for the Chief of the State Police. The Governor nominates one of these candidates and forwards that nominee to the State Senate (upper legislative house) for majority-vote confirmation. If confirmation fails, the entire process re-starts.

The Chief Of The State Police is subject to a maximum of two majority-vote reconfirmations by the State Senate after serving the first and possibly second five year term. If there is no reconfirmation, the entire process re-starts.

Cliff Notes Version:

Out of the state legislature, the Governor, and Vice-Governor, the state legislature is most directly connected to and with the People since they should be elected by either by direct or indirect popular vote. That is why they are not involved in the choosing process of The Chief Of The State Police.
The Chief Of The State Police is the head of the public safety and investigative law enforcement department. That position and department is closer to the People than the prosecutorial law enforcement department and its head position. Because the Governor is more directly connected to and with the People than the Vice-Governor, the Governor must nominate the candidate for Chief Of The State Police while the Vice-Governor must do the same for the head of the prosecutorial law enforcement department.
